A Mother's Words: Amanda & Drew Married

Amanda and Drew met one year before they started dating. They didn’t think anything of it. Amanda, even had thoughts along the lines of no way, not him. Yet, somehow there is a photo of them holding hands from that first night together. I think life was having a little laugh, knowing what was in store. A year later Drew moved from St. Louis to Chicago. He remembered Amanda and looked her up. They went on a date. Drew came home from the date and there was this inkling. An unspoken thought. I think I’m going to marry this girl.

And he did. On the last day of May in Big Sky, Montana, a place that they fell in love with together. Their day was filled with so many moments and stories within the story. My words don’t do it justice and the images, they only come close. Late, late that night at the after party words from Amanda’s mother made me all misty eyed and sent goose bumps to my skin. “You know what Drew said to me tonight? ‘Look at her, isn’t she beautiful.’ He has said a lot to me but never like that.” For a mother to hear those words from the man who just promised to love her daughter for a lifetime, the man she’s entrusted her only daughter to, the daughter she’s loved since she was a tiny speck in her womb, the daughter’s she’s only wished happiness for. My sentimental heart was brimming with happiness for Amanda and Drew.
